What is your official Title?
Clinic Radiology Technologist – Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Clinic

How long have you been at Watertown Regional Medical Center? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been with Watertown Regional Medical for 9 years, almost to the date. I used to work at the Lake Mills and Johnson Creek clinics but moved to Orthopedic and Sports Medicine 2 years ago.

What do you enjoy most about working at Watertown Regional Medical Center?
I enjoy that everyone is so nice and friendly. When you walk down the hall, everyone is welcoming and says hi to you. I’ve been to and worked at bigger hospitals and it’s not always like that. I also enjoy my co-workers, the Ortho team is the best!

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
Working in healthcare was always something I wanted to do. While I was trying to figure out specifically what I wanted to do, the Radiology Technologist position fell into my lap and it was a perfect fit.

What would you say to somebody wanting to become a Radiology Technologist?
It’s more than just pushing a button. There is a lot more technical aspects to it and you have to be able to think outside the box and work with what you have at your disposal. To be a Radiology Tech you need to complete a degree with classroom and clinical aspects to it. I received my 2-year degree completed mine through UW Health.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two kids, aged 7 and 5. In the summer I enjoy playing league volleyball, I used to play in the winter too, until COVID.

What is your favorite place in the Watertown area?
Mullen’s Dairy bar. I love the mint chip ice cream.

What does working for a ‘Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital’ mean to you?
I feel proud to work at a hospital that is meeting and exceeding these quality and safety benchmarks. I want to make sure people know how big of an accomplishment this is for our community. There are a large number of rural and community hospitals in the United States and we have one of the Top 100 at our disposal.

Why do you believe patients can count on Watertown Regional Medical Center for quality care?
We have a passion for caring for people and we care about you. The patients that come in are our neighbors, friends and family so we have a vested interest in making sure their experience and quality of care is higher than any other place they could go.

What is one thing you’re doing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?
I wear my mask whenever I go out and make sure to practice proper hand hygiene, using hand sanitizer and washing them thoroughly with soap and water.
