What is your role and department?
I am a registered nurse (RN) and work as the Clinic Navigator in Heart and Vascular.
What does a typical day look like in your position?
Our heart and vascular clinic provides comprehensive care for patients suffering from a wide variety of heart-related conditions. I work with these patients, triaging their concerns, and making sure they have all the answers they need.
How long have you been at Watertown Regional Medical Center? Have you always been in the same position?
I've been at Watertown Regional Medical Center for 5 years and have been the Clinic Navigator in Heart and Vascular for 2 years.
Why did you choose your profession?
I like people and this is my chance to give them the best care possible, especially when they may be at a low point or are anxious about a newly discovered condition.
What’s new in your department? Are there any new technologies being utilized?
We recently started providing a new cholesterol drug, Leqvio, for our patients in-clinic. We were the first hospital in the state to provide this drug and have seen great results so far.
Teamwork and communication are important to providing safe and quality care, what other departments do you work closely with?
I work closely with the teams in Cath lab, ambulatory care, radiology, and inpatient.
How does your department contribute to the quality of care provided at WRMC?
We provide excellent and well-rounded heart care to the patients in our community.
If you weren’t a CRNA, what would you want to do/be?
I'd love to be a nurse practitioner so I could work closer with the patients and provide more well-rounded care.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
In addition to enjoying the company of my two daughters, I enjoy hunting, cleaning, and crafts.
